Dr. Koa Jaques – Victoria, BC Optometrist

Dr. Koa Jaques’ connection to Oak Bay Optometry started early; she was just 11 years old when she first came in as a patient for her very first pair of glasses. That experience, paired with a passion for science, eyewear, and healthcare, sparked an early interest in Optometry that stayed with her, eventually leading her back years later as part of our team.

Growing up in Oak Bay, Koa began working at the clinic during high school and continued to do so throughout her undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree with Dean’s Honours from the University of Waterloo, gaining experience treating and managing ocular disease in a variety of clinical settings along the way including in Northern rural Alberta and a busy metropolitan clinic in Ottawa.

In practice, Koa is known for her calm, friendly, and easygoing approach. She is a great listener who takes the time to ensure patients feel comfortable and well cared for, while being thorough and attentive to detail. She welcomes patients of all ages and enjoys following up with patients regularly to be sure all their needs are met.

You may also notice she rarely wears the same glasses twice! Koa has over 25 pairs collected over her years working in the industry and she looks forward to adding more! Outside of the clinic, you can find her crocheting and spending time exploring beautiful Vancouver Island.

Now back in the community where it all began, Koa is excited to be caring for patients, welcoming both new and familiar faces.
